Miyazaki’s Next Movie Will Be An Autobiography

Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki announced that the legendary Academy Award-winning animator Hayao Miyazaki’s next movie will be an autobiography. Suzuki stopped short though of saying whether it would be an autobiography of Miyazaki’s own life or of someone else’s.

Suzuki spoke before a group of 200 people at the Museum of Contemporary Art at Tokyo with actress Tomoko Yamaguchi, who played Risa in Miyazaki’s last film, Ponyo. The museum is currently hosting an exhibition for the works of Canadian animator Frederic Back in conjunction with Ghibli.

Ghibli staffers said they were surprised by Suzuki’s sudden announcement and said they couldn’t announce anything more than what had already been divulged. Ghibli has two films awaiting release in the U.S. – Kokurikozaka Kara (From Kokuriko Hill) which was adapted from the manga in a screenplay by Hayao and directed by son Goro for a summer 2011 Japanese release as well as Arrietty which Viz Media will release February 17, 2012.

So which would you rather see – Miyazaki creating an animated movie about his life or of someone else?
