What started out as idle internet rumors and chatter over the past couple weeks has landed Mark Wahlberg in one of the biggest modern movie franchises in the world.
Michael Bay has confirmed that Wahlberg will indeed star in the fourth film of the extremely lucrative franchise.
"Mark is awesome. We had a balst working on Pain and Gain and I'm so fired up to be back working with him," Bay posted on his website. "An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers legacy."
That last bit hints that Wahlberg may possibly be a part of more than just the fourth film.
Earlier this week, there were rumors that Bay has thought twice about possibly re-teaming with Wahlberg after the Internet was buzzing about the actor's potential involvement in the sequel.
Bay has said that this fourth film will be his final journey into the world of the Transformers, though he will most likely stay on in a producing role for future films. The director also revealed a new teaser logo, below.
Transformers 4 is due in theaters June 27, 2014. What do you think of Wahlberg officially being confirmed for the film?
