Marvel's 'Ant-Man' Gets a Release Date; What Does It Mean for the 'Avengers' Sequel?

Marvel’s Ant-Man just moved from cautious fanboy speculation to glorious reality.
In a press release laying out its full slate of release dates, Walt Disney Studios and Marvel confirmed that Ant-Man will get a standalone adventure that will open in theaters on Nov. 6, 2015. It has not bee solidified that Edgar Wright will direct the film in the release, though given the fact that the Shaun of the Dead director introduced his test footage at the Marvel Comic-Con panel, I think we’re safe to assume he’s the man for the job.
Here’s where things get interesting: That means Ant-Man will come out AFTER Joss Whedon’s The Avengers 2, which is slated for May 1, 2015. So does that mean Marvel will wait to introduce the miniscule hero until the Avengers sequel? Or will he be properly teased in either a Thor, Cap or Iron Man sequel, the way the studio did with Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow?
We shall see. Speaking of those sequels, Marvel and Disney confirmed that Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World will be upgraded to 3D in time for their respective releases. As if that is much of a shock. No word on the other Marvel films Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Guardians of the Galaxy.
Here’s what is surprising, though. It was reported over the weekend that Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson somehow would be returning for the planned TV series based on S.H.I.E.L.D. Strange, seeing as how the character seemingly died in The Avengers
What could that mean? Will Coulson be resurrected? Is the S.H.I.E.L.D. show going to be a prequel, telling stories of some of the organization’s early missions? All of this is possible, and in Joss we trust.
Big day for Marvel news, though. Which of the above announcements has you most excited?
