Marvel Mutant Mayhem! Bryan Singer Takes Quicksilver for His 'X-Men' Movie

Who knew Quicksilver was such a popular Marvel hero?

Pietro Maximoff, a mutant twin first introduced in the X-Men universe, has been generating a ton of headlines lately because Joss Whedon would like to use him for The Avengers 2. Today, however, director Bryan Singer threw Hollywood a curveball by saying that HE plans to use Quicksilver first as a member of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Singer, of course, used Twitter to announce the casting, saying that American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters had won the role.

“Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver,” the director shared.

And with this announcement come TONS of questions. Because many wondered how Whedon and Marvel planned to use a mutant character, we’re now left to wonder if the Quicksilver used in X-Men will be the same one used in The Avengers 2. Could this be the beginning of the multiple movie crossovers comic book fans are dreaming of? Can Singer and Whedon create a bridge between the Marvel and X-Men franchises? Is Quicksilver the lynchpin?

Probably not. That’s too much to dream. Instead, it’s likely both movies simply want to use a tertiary comic character.

Will Singer also cast a Scarlet Witch … Quicksilver’s twin sister? That truly would steal some of Whedon’s thunder. Let’s see how these casting decisions shape these anticipated sequels, but so far, Singer just took the lead in the race to impress comic-book-loving movie fans.
