'Mad Men' Star January Jones Doesn't Think She's Coming Back for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

So far, all of the talk surrounding Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past has involved the names of actors (and mutants) who would be crammed into the jam-packed sequel. Hugh Jackman, who’s primed to play Wolverine once again in the time-traveling thriller, teased that every person who’s every donned a superhero costume would appear on screen in the soon-to-be-filmed blockbuster.
Well, no one has told Mad Men star January Jones yet.
The blonde beauty, of course, played Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn’s winning X-Men: First Class. But when she caught up with Collider at the Sundance Film Festival to promote her latest, Sweetwater, Jones said:
“I don’t know that I’m in it, I don’t think Emma’s in this one. Well they haven’t told me if I am (laughs). I wouldn’t put it past them, though. I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there.
“It’s called Days of Future Past, I think,” she continued, “and I think it’s more about James [McAvoy] and Michael [Fassbender] and then Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellan], and I think it’s gonna go back and forth with those [characters], so I don’t think Emma’s in those bits. I don’t know, I really don’t know.”
Sooner or later, Singer is going to have to start cutting back on mutant cast members, because there’s only so much screen time he can afford. The Days plot skips back and forth between the world of First Class and the original trilogy Singer helped launch, using time travel to connect the disconnected cast members. It’s a massive, sprawling idea … though we can see how Jones – and Emma Frost – could be left on the outside looking in as she waits for another X-Men sequel somewhere down the line.
