Longer 'Lone Ranger' Trailer Introduces Mysticism to the Action

While Gore Verbinski was busy filming his version of The Lone Ranger (a production that took longer than expected thanks to a few … obstacles), comments regarding the script talked of a supernatural element to the screenplay, with the director allowing the mysticism of Johnny Depp’s Tonoto character to weave a unique spell over the update of this classic Western character.

Those elements couldn’t be found in the original Ranger trailer, which sold fans a straight-up Western thriller. But they are all over this new tease, which expands on Verbinski’s vision and also reminds us that this is the director behind the three offbeat Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Here’s the latest trailer for The Lone Ranger, shared courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures:

There’s a lot more humor in this clip, resting on the comedic interplay between Depp and his Ranger, Armie Hammer. There also are several panoramic shots that show how Verbinski plans to make his Western landscapes characters in the narrative.
Trains, also, will be a big factor (from everything we are hearing), and you can count on more than a few action scenes set in, around and under the steaming locomotives.
Disney has a lot riding on The Lone Ranger, which will be the July 4 weekend blockbuster (it actually opens July 3, 2013). Does the new trailer get you more excited for this souped-up adaptation of the classic characters?
