'Little Miss Sunshine: The Musical' - Would You See It?

Though it's not heading to Broadway just yet, Entertainment Weekly reports that Little Miss Sunshine is finally heading to the stage … beginning with performances at the La Jolla Playhouse in California in February 2011. We told you briefly about the musical back in September when it was selected to participate in the Sundance Institute Theatre Lab with the hope that it would eventually find a stage to call home.

Now, roughly 7 months later, the musical – which comes from the folks behind the Broadway hit, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee – is heading to a California theater, and, if popular enough, I imagine Broadway (or Off Broadway) won't be too far behind. There's no word on whether any celebs will star in the musical, and you can pretty much count out (as far as we know) any of the original cast returning for a brief run. However, that doesn't mean it won't be just as much fun as the film was … and maybe even more. (I mean, c'mon – that final dance number at the beauty pageant was just itching to become a full-on musical number).
Do you think Little Miss Sunshine will find success on stage, or is it too hard for you to picture it as a musical?
