In case you haven't noticed, the latest trend for these high-profile actors like Leonardo DiCaprio is for them to line up tons of projects with their name loosely attached in some capacity (usually as producer), and then when the time comes they carefully choose the one film that's ready to go, like, yesterday.
Leonardo DiCaprio Lands Another Ridley Scott Project
Meanwhile, bloggers like myself are forced to report on every little project a big actor or director is interested in, waiting for the day they finally choose one and move forward. This latest bit of DiCaprio (who, mind you, has roughly 25 different potential projects gearing up in one stage or another) news involves the previously-announced Ridley Scott adaptation of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott's production company will now join DiCaprio's production company as co-producers of the buzzed-about adaptation, with each eying more involvement. In Scott's case, the Blade Runner helmer may decide to direct, while DiCaprio could star.
Of course, how fast this gets off the ground depends on which project Scott decides to direct next. He's currently finishing up Robin Hood, and he's agreed to helm an Alien prequel. If Scott doesn't direct and only produces, there's a chance Leo may do the same. Meanwhile, us fans of the book – which tells of a bland future devoid of families – have to sit here and wait patiently for someone to finally make up their mind and a have a go at it.
Which would you rather see happen first: an Alien prequel, or a Brave New World adaptation?
