Lebron James Sports Comedy Put On Hold

There’s a saying that says, “When it rains, it pours.” There couldn’t be a more appropriate adage for Lebron James right now. Three days after his Miami Heat lost the NBA Championship to the Dallas Mavericks, word is out now that James’ proposed sports comedy, Ballers, has been placed on indefinite hold.

The sports comedy to be directed by Undercover Brothers’ Malcolm D. Lee, about five guys who attend Lebron James Adult Basketball Camp in Las Vegas but end up dragging the basketball superstar into their countless life issues, was scheduled to start shooting last September. The movie was delayed to accommodate James’ over-hyped decision of leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers this past summer. Variety is now reporting that the project is once again on hold for re-writes.
The project does have a few Hollywood heavy hitters on board, namely producer Brian Grazer who said that he was impressed with James’ performance in commercials and his 2007 hosting turn on Saturday Night Live. Grazer added that, “an A-list comedic cast,” would be added to ensure Lebron’s feature debut would be a success.
However, with no imminent start date until next summer, the project could very well fall apart between now and then.  So what do you think? Would you be interested in checking out a Lebron James sports comedy? Or should he focus on trying to put a ring on his finger?
