Kurt Russell Offered Role in 'Fast & Furious 7'

Director James Wan has made a name for himself with the horror-movie genre. This past summer, he helmed the breakout hit The Conjuring and in a couple weeks, will return with the second installment to his Insidious series.

His horror background makes his foray into the action genre all the more interesting. Wan is directing Fast & Furious 7 and has been gradually piecing together his eclectic cast.

The latest addition to the cast could be veteran actor-badass Kurt Russell.

Variety is reporting that after Denzel Washington passed on the role, Universal has now moved on to Russell.

There's no description on who Russell would be playing, but it would certainly make an interesting addition to a franchise that has primarily focused on adding action stars like Dwayne Johnson.

Thus far Jason Statham, Ong-Bak star Tony Jaa and MMA star Ronda Rousey are the new additions to the seventh film in the long-running franchise. Statham also had a cameo during the end credits scene in Furious 6.

Russell has slowed down his workload considerably over the past few years. His most notable film in recent years was starring in Quentin Tarantino's 2007 Grindhouse flick Death Proof. Four years later, he starred in the football-themed drama Touchback.

Would you like to see Russell join the cast?

Fast & Furious 7 is due in theaters on July 11, 2014.
