Kim Basinger is certainly no stranger to lighting up the silver screen. The former model's big Hollywood breakout was as a Bond girl in Never Say Never Again, but if that weren't enough to cement her as a pop-culture sex symbol, she also starred in 1986's erotic drama 9½ Weeks. And soon she'll be once again steaming things up on the big screen in the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, Fifty Shades Darker.
Basinger has just been cast as Elena Lincoln in the movie directed by James Foley (Fear). Book readers will instantly know what that means, but for the uninitiated, Elena is not only a former lover of Christian Grey's (Jamie Dornan), she's actually the person who introduced him to the world of BDSM and presents herself as a wedge between Grey and Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) in the sequel.
It's perfect casting, really. If you're looking for an older beauty who can easily play someone's domineering former flame, you really can't do much better than Basinger. Not only does she look the part, but she's also a terrific actress, having won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for L.A. Confidential (1997).
Fifty Shades Darker hits theaters on February 10, 2017.
