'Kick-Ass 2' NSFW Trailer, and Did Vin Diesel Confirm New Marvel Role During 'Riddick' Panel?

Universal serves up an action-packed one-two punch in Hall H at the Con this year with Kick-Ass 2 and Riddick.

Kick-Ass 2

Who Was There: Writer Mark Milar, producer Jeff Wadlow, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo, Lindy Booth, Donald Faison and Chloe Moretz (via satellite from Boston, much to Hall H's displeasure)

New Stuff:

- Taylor-Johnson and Mintz-Plasse get intro videos before appearing onstage. There's also a Hit-Girl intro video, even though Moretz is not in attendance. Those intro videos are likely to pop up online soon, so keep a look out.

- Mintz-Plasse confirms that the sequences from the comic where Red Mist murders and beheads Colonel Stars and Stripes' dog along with the rape scene involving Katie Deauxma are not in the film.

- We get a look at a new NSFW trailer. Check it out, but be warned, it's VERY R rated.

Quotable:

"Chloe's character has changed visually, but mine hasn't changed at all." - Taylor-Johnson on what has changed since the first movie.

"I love playing characters who are super opposite of myself. That's also why I was interested in doing Carrie." - Moretz talking about what interests her about her character

"Hit-Girl is lost in her own self, hiding behind a mask." - Moretz on her character in Kick-Ass 2

Interestingly, and perhaps due to time constraints, there were no audience questions for Kick-Ass 2.

Riddick

Who Was There: Vin Diesel, Katee Sackhoff and director David Twohy

New Stuff:

- At the start of the panel, director David Twohy walks onto stage. Instead of sitting, he picks up his mic saying that he was at Comic-Con 13 years ago for Pitch Black with an actor nobody had heard of named Vin Diesel. He says he never would have dreamed of this moment. We then see a video montage of Katee Sackhoff being all tough and Starbuck-y (Battlestar Galactica fans know who I'm talking about). Then, Sackhoff walks out onto stage and Hall H explodes into cheers. Diesel gets a similar reception.

- We immediately jump into a new clip. More fights, scary monsters, glowing eyes. After the clip, Twohy talks about throwing out ideas to Diesel about the third movie in the franchise. He says they decided to go with a survival theme. He promises the movie pays off past debts and moves into new territory.

- After some panel talk, we get another clip. The scene is an extended clip of that part of the trailer where Riddick is chained up and about to be killed, only for a monster to land on the roof of the room they're in. The clip closes with a montage of more guns, monsters, violence and Riddick mumble-growling, "You're not afraid of the dark, are you?"

Quotable:

"Sci-fi fans are the most loyal fans in the world," - Sackhoff acknowledging the crowd after cheers every time Battlestar Galactica is mentioned

"With Dahl, there's no vulnerability other than she's a woman. I loved that it got to shoot big guns, I think my gun was the biggest." - Sackhoff

"Sometimes I feel guilty about Riddick killing so many characters. like, 'That wasn't cool. He shouldn't have killed that guy.'" - Diesel talking about Riddick's dark character and how now that he has kids, he feels guilty for playing a character with such darkness.

"That's the one question I can't answer. There is some very big news coming up at the end of the month." - Diesel, who then grins widely after being asked what his "vision" was for his next movie, a reference to the Marvel character and his recent meeting with the comic book movie studio. The wide grin almost gives it away.
