Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Talks for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

It was a wish of many Batman fanatics, and now it looks to be coming true. Ever since Joseph Gordon-Levitt did wonders for Christopher Nolan’s Inception, fans have been itching to see the actor cast in Nolan’s third and final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. For awhile there were rumors that Gordon-Levitt would play The Riddler, but folks began to come to terms with that not happening once Tom Hardy was cast as Bane and Anne Hathway was brought on to play Catwoman. Surely there wasn’t room for a third villain, right?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Well we don’t quite know what to make of this latest news, as Deadline confirms that Gordon-Levitt is in talks to join the next Batman film in an unspecified role. Obviously folks are immediately thinking he’s The Riddler, but that may be one too many villains for Batman to contend with. Others have suggested that Gordon-Levitt will take over for Heath Ledger as the Joker, though Nolan has already said that he has no plans to resurrect the character following Ledger’s passing.
So who would the guy play? Perhaps Dr. Hugo Strange, as previously rumored, or maybe Nolan will throw a curveball and introduce Gordon-Levitt as Robin. Wouldn’t that be interesting? Sound off below with thoughts on which Batman character you’d like to see the young actor take on.
