Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard Officially Join ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-LevittWell, it’s official – as previously rumored and discussed on multiple occasions, Warner Bros. announced today that, yes, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard have joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman film. The two join other Inception co-stars like Tom Hardy (Bane), as well as Anne Hathway (Catwoman) and returning castmembers like Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman.

As far as who Cotillard and Gordon-Levitt are playing, the press release claims she’s taking on the role of a woman named Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member who assists "a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham." Meanwhile, Gordon-Levitt will apparently play John Blake, "a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon."
There’s already a lot of chatter online with regards to these character descriptions possibly hiding the real identity of who they’re actually playing, especially when it comes to Cotillard. It’s been rumored for quite awhile that she was going to play Talia al Ghul, estranged daughter of the villain from Batman Begins. As far as Gordon-Levitt goes, who knows – perhaps his character will assume a Robin-esque role.

Any ideas from you fans? Are these the characters they’re playing, or is someone hiding the real truth?
