Good news Pirates of the Caribbean fans – it looks like all that talk of Depp ditching the franchise was a bit premature after all. Last week we told you how Disney chairman Dick Cook's sudden departure following 38 years on the job left a whole lot of people dumbfounded, including Cook's good friend Johnny Depp – who credits Cook with keeping him involved with the lucrative Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Johnny Depp Still Starring in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4'…For Now
Following the announcement that Cook was leaving, Depp made a few comments about Pirates, how his involvement depended solely on how the script turned out and that the whole Cook thing left a very sour taste in his mouth. Naturally, the online audience took Depp's remarks to mean the guy might bow out of the recently-announced Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, though according to Disney sources (via Cinema Blend), the Mouse House is working overtime to make sure Depp remains in the fourth installment.
That being said, if he does star in part four, there's a very good chance it will be his last Pirates of the Caribbean adventure. According to MTV, Disney is prepared to replace the actor in future installments if that's what it comes down to. That might be all fine and dandy, but who really wants to watch a Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Captain Jack Sparrow?
Would you still be interested in Pirates of the Caribbean if Johnny Depp wasn't in it?
