When you go through the list of action stars that haven't appeared in The Expendables franchise, one name that certainly sticks out is Jackie Chan.
Apparently now, you can cross that name off the wish list as Chan has confirmed that he has joined the cast of the third film.
At a press conference for his new film Chinese Zodiac 12 (CZ12), Chan said, "Sly had invited me to be in Expendables 2, but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn't make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."
So at least we're getting more than a Chuck Norris-esque cameo from Chan.
He adds that the third film will be a "buddy-buddy" movie, which Stallone apparently has obliged.
If confirmed by Sly, Chan would be the first addition to the regular band of characters who have appeared in the first two films. Reports earlier this year that Nicolas Cage had joined the cast ended up being debunked by Stallone and previously rumored stars Steven Segal and Clint Eastwood have said they weren't interested.
Are you psyched to see Jackie in Expendables 3? Will he play an Expendables ally or foe? And might we get another Jet Li vs. Jackie Chan showdown? Perhaps Statham vs. Chan? The possibilities are seemingly endless!
