UPDATE: Variety is reporting that Universal is saying there is no truth to the report below of Damon and Greengrass meeting to return to the Bourne franchise. Do you think there's any truth to the report from eariler today?
Ever since we last saw Jason Bourne dive into the East River in The Bourne Ultimatum, there have been on-again, off-again talks about Matt Damon returning for a fourth Bourne film.
Damon has stated that he would not proceed with a fourth Bourne movie unless Paul Greengrass was directing. Greengrass helmed the previous two Bourne movies, Supremacy and Ultimatum before the franchise shifted gears to focus on Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross.
Twitch Film reports that both Damon and Greengrass are in simultaneous negotiations with Universal for a return to the franchise. Universal has made it clear though that they will continue to focus on Renner's character regardless of what happens with their negotiations with Damon, with a potential crossover of the two characters if and when Damon signs on.
Franchise producer Frank Marshall, who also wrote and directed last year's The Bourne Legacy said, "We're going to follow Jeremy's character. Everything else is wide open. That's the great thing about this now. The table is set to go any direction we want to. But we will, I'm sure, follow Jeremy and see what happens."
Would you like to see Damon return for another Bourne movie? Does a crossover with Jeremy Renner's character sound intriguing?
