How to Prepare Food for a Good Sequel
Three of the big children’s movies this summer are sequels or prequels to movies that already came out, and it’s quite easy to have a great party, celebration or movie night in preparation of the new release. My family loves to get ready for new movies because we go all out, starting with getting all dressed up. My kids love to create ways to get dressed up in a themed way.
The next movie to come out as a sequel for kids is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. I was watching a preview for it with my kids as we were watching Despicable Me and my mind went crazy with ideas! Now our party plans are all about the food. We are going to have special chocolate-covered popcorn with M&Ms and marshmallows, meatballs on a stick and, of course, we will be watching the original Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Here are a couple of my recipes for you to try out:
1 cup chocolate chips
¼ Heavy whipping cream
5 cups of popcorn popped
½ cup marshmallows
½ cup of M&Ms
Heat the chocolate like you are making ganache (in the microwave 15 seconds at a time, stir and add the cream then continue to heat 15 seconds at a time until creamy)
Dump over the popcorn
Stir in Marshmallows and M&Ms while the chocolate is still hot.
Let cool before serving.
Italian Meatballs on a Stick Recipe
1 package Italian Sausage
1/3 cup crackers
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup milk
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
De-case the sausage
Combine the egg, crackers, cheese, milk and sausage in a bowl
Shape the mixture into meatballs (recommended 20 equal balls)
Arrange meatballs in a shallow baking pan
Bake for 20 minutes
Any kind of food on a stick is fun and getting your family involved in the creation of the food is a great way to make sure you spend the entire evening together. The kitchen is a great place to start the family time. Then just move it to the couch as you watch the movie together, and of course, head to the theater together for the sequel!
