Hey Girls: 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3' Is Coming, Plus: Barbie Is Getting a Live-Action Movie

You might be surprised to learn there's more than one Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie. In fact, there are two movies based on Ann Brashares' novel about four best friends (played by Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera) whose lives change directions. The young women stay connected by sharing a secondhand pair of jeans.

Deadline reports that there will be yet another film adapted from the Brashare canon — this one stemming from Sisterhood Everlasting, the fifth and final book in the YA series. The story "picks up 10 years later, after the Sisterhood friends have grown apart. It centers on Tibby who tries to bridge the distance by reuniting the girls for a trip that will change their lives forever." Fans of the series will be happy to find out that the studio wants to reunite the original actresses for the film.

Color us curious about another bit of girl-centric news we spotted today — this one involving a plastic, pink-obsessed icon. Barbie is about to get her first live-action film in 50 years. BuzzFeed brings news that although the famous doll has countless animated flicks to her credit, Barbie has never been animated through an actual living being. That, of course, has us curious: Who should play Barbie? Jodi Benson voiced her in Toy Story 3 (see image above), but we imagine they'll want to cast a young actress in the role. Is your favorite actress Barbie material? Let us know in the comments.

The film is described as “comedic and contemporary” and “will see Barbie inhabit many of her iconic professions (princess, president, mermaid, etc.) to inspire change in the lives of everyone around her.” Since mermaid is a profession now, brb bye.
