Here's How You Can Watch 'Avatar' in 3D at Home

Leading up to the upcoming release of that fancy three-disc special edition version of James Cameron's Avatar on Blu-ray and DVD, we were all under the assumption that they weren't releasing a 3D version yet. All we've been hearing is that a 3D version of Avatar is being planned for release next year (most likely), and so all you can get now is either the single disc or the special edition, due in stores on November 16th. That's true – the new special edition won't have a 3D copy of the film attached to it – but if you want to spend a little more money, there is one way to watch Avatar in 3D in your living room.

'Avatar'

Through a special deal with Panasonic, 20th Century Fox did create one version ofAvatar in Blu-ray 3D for their new 3D televisions, the Panasonic VIERA TV. The promotion claims that anyone purchasing a Panasonic VIERA 3D television may get a bonus pack that contains a 3D version of Avatar on Blu-ray along with two pairs of Panasonic 3D eyeglasses. The catch? You have to own or buy this specific television since that's the only way you can watch Avatar in 3D at home as of now. If you own a Samsung 3D TV or any other brand, your 3D Avatar will not work.

So there you have it. Either double down this holiday season and snag yourself a 3D Panasonic TV with the 3D Avatar Blu-ray, or hang back and wait a little while longer for what we're sure will be an even bigger release next year.

Are you going to pick up the three-disc special edition next month, or would you rather wait until you can watch it in 3D at home?
