The big week is finally here. In 48 short hours, we'll be shifting into Comic-Con coverage with a look at preview night and, of course, the much buzzed about panels in Hall H. Speaking of Hall H, there's certainly a variety of panels taking center stage this year. Here are our five most anticipated panels this year, which also serve as a warning that the lines are going to be crazy long for these particular events.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
In addition to a new trailer, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will most likely bring the big three (the film's stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson) down to Comic-Con this year for the first time. Catching Fire is easily one of the most anticipated movies of 2013 and we're expecting a new Twilight-level crowd spending hours in line with Marvel fans on Saturday.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Speaking of Marvel, its program specifically calls out Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier although there will be a few "surprises" during the hour-long presentation. Needless to say, Hall H is going to be packed during this panel, which will immediately follow Fox's presentation.
X-Men: Days of Future Past/The Wolverine
Since we're talking Fox, the majority of the focus will be on Wolverine and the still unconfirmed X-Men: Days of Future Past presentation. Will Fox look to bring out the entire ensemble cast for Days of Future Past a la The Avengers? If so, flashbulbs and ear drums will be popping.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony's massive panel will include a presentation for its upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. In 2011, Andrew Garfield showed up in a Spider-Man costume and took to the audience mic to read a message to the Hall H crowd about how much he always wanted to play the iconic superhero. What kind of hijinks are in store this year? Will Garfield descend from the Hall H rafters in his Spidey suit? That'd be pretty awesome.
If you're going to kick off Saturday in Hall H, you're going to want to do it big, especially with Spider-Man and Marvel anchoring the day. Warner Bros. is bringing Godzilla back to Comic-Con this year after a surprise presentation last year. The production has been filming for several months and director Gareth Edwards revealed in a pre-SDCC message that "something big is headed to San Diego" for Comic-Con. Might we see a teaser trailer or will Godzilla rip through the Hall H walls? Ok, probably not the latter. Take a look at the video message below.
