Over the course of her storybook career, Helena Bonham Carter has kept a footprint in fairy tales, lending her talents to the likes of Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Harry Potter franchise. The streak continues now when Carter signs on to Walt Disney’s Cinderella, which will be directed by the great Kenneth Branagh.
Disney confirmed via a press release Carter will play the fairy godmother in the upcoming live-action feature, which is due in theaters in 2014. And if the news of HBC joining the cast isn’t enough to perk your interest, know that she’s going to be sharing scenes with the amazing Cate Blanchett, who already has been cast as the wicked stepmother.
Uh, where do we sign up?
As Branagh works his way through production, we can report that Lily James landed the title role, while Richard Madden has been cast as the prince.
Carter, meanwhile, will be in theaters in a few days as part of Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger, which you can grab tickets for right here!
