Guillermo del Toro to Direct Emma Watson in 'Beauty and the Beast' Re-Imagining

Guillermo del Toro is now attached to direct Beauty, a new re-imagined take on the Beauty and the Beast tale and has a Harry Potter beauty to use as his muse.

Emma Watson is attached to star in the lead role and Warner Bros. has hired Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones, last year's The Three Musketeers) to write the script.

The deal had been in the works for almost a year, with del Toro looking to adapt the Robin McKinley novel Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast to the big screen. Watson came on board last summer but the big question mark was whether del Toro would act as a producer or be more involved as a director.

No release date has been set and considering del Toro's busy schedule, we might be waiting for a while. Not only is he currently shooting Pacific Rim in Toronto, but he's also developing Haunted Mansion movie for Disney, consulting for DreamWorks Animation and directing their Trollhunters movie and is also attached to direct both a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and a Frankenstein project for Universal.

That been said, are you excited about the prospects of del Toro directing this re-imagined movie? Does Watson fit the Beauty role?
