Despicable Me 2 Those adorable Minions are back for round two, which sees a reformed Gru starting his own jelly-making business to make a (finally peaceful) living for his three adopted daughters--employing the little yellow guys to come up with tasty jam recipes instead of concocting evil schemes. Life's all good for this family man who's content to plan princess parties and playdates until he's brought in by the Antivillain League to help track down a real bad guy who's in possession of a dangerous serum. Parents will appreciate the pop-culture references to James Bond and Get Smart, and the movie's sweet central message. For those of you who can't get enough, there's plenty of Minioning going on--from their set pieces to three cover songs to the big showdown in which they play a pivotal part. Extras: Featurettes on the nifty gadgets and an interview with the actresses, "Gru's Girls" (DVD/BD); the Blu-ray adds three Minion mini-movies (to ready you for their own feature film in 2015?); even more featurettes on the Minions, a Steve Carell interview on transforming Gru and a feature on the villain El Macho (Benjamin Bratt).

Fast & Furious 6 This sequel in the long-running franchise brought on Dwayne Johnson as a U.S. agent who recruits expats Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to help him take down a dangerous group of mercenary drivers equipped with a seemingly unstoppable fleet of vehicles. In exchange for their help, Agent Hobbs promises them full pardons, which will allow them to return to the States without fear of arrest. The movie is one thrill ride after another, and even though the stunts are over-the-top outrageous, who cares? There's a reason this series has gone on for six movies, not the least of which is that it never took itself too seriously. Whether we'll ever see a seventh installment after the untimely death of star Paul Walker remains to be seen, but if it does we'll be looking forward to it. Extras: Featurettes on the newcomers, the returning stars and a set visit with Diesel (DVD/BD); the BD adds featurettes on the cars, the fight sequences and breakdowns of four key set pieces. A portion of DVD and BD sales will be donated to Paul Walker's Reach Out Worldwide foundation that provides assistance after natural disasters.
Battle of the Year Americans haven't won this international dance-off in 15 years. Can a dream team of dancers make it their year? And if that reads like a cliche, it's because that's what this movie pretty much is.
