Gina Carano Signs on for Female 'Expendables' Movie

Derrick Deane

MMA fighter Gina Carano has become the first star attached to an all-female version of The Expendables movie. The idea was originally rumored last month when Sylvester Stallone's sequel, The Expendables 2, hit theaters. Famous female butt-kickers like Linda Hamilton, Sigourney Weaver, Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez, among others were mentioned as a wish list of potential actresses to assemble in the film.

Carano made her big screen debut earlier this year in Steven Soderbergh's action flick Haywire. While the film failed to catch fire at the box office, Carano stood out with her mixed martial arts background. She has since been cast in Fast & Furious 6 as Dwayne Johnson's sidekick and the female lead in Into the Blue director John Stockwell's action thriller In the Blood.

There is no title for this female version of The Expendables, nor any director or plot, however with Carano signing on to star, we know this thing is at least legit.

"I don’t know how I'm supposed to make a movie that is suppoed to be the female version of The Expendables without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba," producer Adi Shankar said.

So now that Carano is signed on, who else would you like to see in this ensemble (besides the wish list names mentioned above)?
