George Clooney Looks Presidential in the 'Ides of March' Trailer and Poster Debut

Just in case you haven’t heard enough about politics in the past few weeks, here’s the debut poster and trailer for the upcoming electoral drama The Ides of March.

Based on Beau Willimon’s play Farragut North, The Ides of March centers on a young PR person (Ryan Gosling) who’s working for a presidential campaign. The candidate (George Clooney) looks to have a great shot at winning, but that victory could slip away as Gosling’s character becomes embroiled in backroom deals, mixed up with seedy political insiders, and involved with a young intern.

The clip looks great – Clooney looks like he could really pull of the whole politician thing if he were so inclined once he’s done acting. The film isn’t lacking for star power, either – aside from Clooney and Gosling, the title also features performances from Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Jeffrey Wright, and Evan Rachel Wood. This one could be a potential awards season contender for sure.

The Ides of March will debut at the Venice Film Festival on August 31st. Domestic audiences will get another peek inside the world of politics when the film opens here on October 9th.
