'Frozen' Trailer: Let the Great Carrot Race Begin!

For years, Blue Sky Studios cornered the market on snowbound animated features thanks to the success of the Ice Age franchise. But Walt Disney Animation Studios is making a play for some frigid family entertainment with the release of Frozen, which teased its first official trailer below:

The race for a carrot across a frozen lake reminds me ever so slightly of Scrat trying to secure his acorn, but with a new twist. This also acts as a true teaser, as it gives us an idea of what we’ll see on-screen in Frozen without spoiling any specifics. I always appreciate that.

Here’s are the three most important things we know about Frozen so far.

1. It’s brought to us by the same creative team behind Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph… two contemporary animated victories for Disney.

2. Chris Buck (Tarzan) directs the story, which will follow an adventurer named Anna (Kristen Bell) as she embarks on a journey to locate her distant sister Elsa the Snow Queen (Idina Menzel) and bring an end to the frozen ice age that has enveloped her kingdom.

3. Snowmen can take their body parts apart and still move. It’s kind of creepy, kind of beautiful, and changes everything I thought I knew about biology, spirituality and Mother Nature.

Ahead of the teaser trailer, Disney shared a few Frozen images, courtesy of USA Today. The movie will be in theaters on November 27.
