'Footloose' Remake First Look

Get ready to kick off those Sunday shoes and settle in for another remake of a beloved '80s movie. This time it's the Kevin Bacon dance-around-town flick Footloose, which is just about to finish filming down South. As such, director Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow) has tweeted a few images from the set, including our first look at the new Footloose stars, Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough.  In the original, the parts were played by Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer.

The 1984 movie – about a town that outlaws dancing and the teens who fight back with a whole bunch of flying spins and cool finger snaps -- included one of the more memorable soundtracks of all time. No word on what this remake will be doing to update the story, as well as which songs from the original they'll use and which they'll create for the update.
Brewer's previous two films were hot, sweaty, dirty and dramatic (but fun!), so we're curious to see what he'll lend to a film that seems like it's going for a more family-friendly approach. Nevertheless, check out the first look below (and more images over on Brewer's twitter). Footloose dances into theaters on April 1, 2011.
