First Look: Karl Urban, Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby in 'Dredd'

Lionsgate wisely waited until the chaos of Comic-Con passed before debuting the first images from the upcoming Judge Dredd reboot, simply titled Dredd. Bleeding Cool managed to scan the images from Empire magazine’s latest issue, which features Mega-City One’s most infamous Judge, Jury and Executioner on its cover.

We also get a look at Olivia Thirlby as Cassandra Anderson, a telepathic rookie Judge who has psychic powers and can sense impending danger, read other people’s minds and use mental attacks. Also appearing in the issue is a look at Lena Headey of 300 and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles as the ruthless clan leader Madeline 'Ma-Ma' Madrigal .

The sci-fi-action flick based on the British comic series created by John Wagner, Carlos Ezquerra and Pat Mills last got the big screen treatment back in 1995 when Sylvester Stallone donned (and, to much dismay, un-donned) the iconic helmet.  This time, Pete Travis, most famously known for directing 2008’s Vantage Point, has stepped behind the camera to direct Karl Urban in the lead role.

Take a look at the images below and let us know what you think. Are these gritty, grimy images what you expected from this remake?
