First Look at Chris Evans as Captain America

We've seen brief glimpses of Chris Evans parading around in his Captain America costume (between set photos and Comic-Con teaser posters), but now we finally get the real thing in the form of an Entertainment Weekly cover shot of Evans in his red, white and blue get-up, minus the helmet.

Chris Evans as 'Captain America'

Due out on July 22nd, 2011, Captain America: The First Avenger will be the last big Marvel film before The Avengers arrives on our plate in May of 2012. The film stars Chris Evans as a guy named Steve Rogers who volunteers for a secret military training program when he's deemed unfit to serve in World War II. That secret training program helps give him super powers, which he uses to defend his home country, as well as attempt to defeat the villainous Red Skull, played by Matrix villain Hugo Weaving.

At some point in the film, Captain America is frozen in ice (if they go by the comics), and then re-discovered in contemporary times which is when he teams up with folks like Iron Man and Thor in The Avengers. Most of the Captain America movie, however, will take place in the 1940s during World War II.

What do you think of Evans' Captain America look? And do you think the comic book movie will do well even though it's set during an earlier time?
