Final 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Trailer Is a Brilliant Mix of Characters and Action

X-Man: Days of Future Past

You better sit down for this one. The third and final trailer for Marvel's X-Men: Days of Future Past has arrived, and it's rather brilliant.

This trailer appears to spend the balance of its time in the 1970s, as Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) arrives from the future to recruit Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) for a vital mission to save both mutants and humans -- although there's no assurance that any of the mutants will survive. We get fleeting glimpses of other mutants, both new and familiar, as well as the most extended look yet at Quicksilver (Evan Peters). And let's not forget the jaw-dropping destruction wrought by the powerful, mechanical Sentinels, which is what sets the plot in motion in the first place.

Looking at the three full-length trailers back to back, it appears that director Bryan Singer has crafted a a suspenese thriller in which the characters come first, placed against an apocalyptic backdrop filled with spectacular action. We can't wait to see what X-Men: Days of Future Past delivers when it smashes into theaters on May 23.
