'Fifty Shades of Grey' Producer Responds to Casting Haters

Earlier this week, while many of you were enjoying various Labor Day activities, Universal's adaptation of the best-selling book Fifty Shades of Grey finally landed its lead actors.

Numerous A-list actors and actresses had been rumored for the two lead characters, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, but in the end, Pacific Rim and Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam and relative newcomer Dakota Johnson ended up with the roles.

Fan reaction was harsh at first. We even shared some thoughts with our podcast.

Some fans went as far as to launch online petitions for a recasting, similar to the backlash Warner Bros. felt when it cast Ben Affleck as its new Batman.

On Tuesday, producer Dana Brunetti responded to the backlash with a pair of tweets. Here's what he said:
