Kevin Bacon to Join X-Men: First Class Cast
Fanboy Fix: ‘X-Men: First Class’, ‘Superman’ and ‘Paul’
At this point, I’ve pretty much given up all hope that they will ever stop announcing cast members for X-Men: First Class. It seems like every day brings a new name and a different mutant – to the point where I don’t know who’s who anymore. Do you? I don’t. The latest reports come from Deadline, who say Kevin Bacon (yes, Kevin “Footloose” Bacon) is in talks to join the X-Men: First Class cast as one of the film’s central villains.
There’s no word on who he’ll play – whether it’s a mutant or a human – but if he signs on, he’ll join a cast that already includes James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee) and Lucas Till (Havoc).
Could you see Kevin Bacon playing an evil mutant?
Director Offered New Superman Movie?
A big rumor going around yesterday was that Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) was offered the directing job for the new Superman movie that Christopher Nolan and David Goyer are both involved in shaping and writing. Collider has since debunked the rumor through their “sources,” but it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to see Columbus directing the thing. That said, I think it’s still a little too early for offers to be made on Superman, and I don’t expect this film to really heat up at least for another few months while the script is being finished and polished to a shine. So chillax on the Superman rumors people!
Who would you like to see direct the new Superman movie?
‘Paul’ Plot Synopsis Revealed
What is Paul, you ask? Well, it’s a film that has an ordinary-sounding title, but in all honesty is far from ordinary. Starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (and directed by Superbad’s Greg Mottola), Paul is a freaky sci-fi flick that’s running a little under the radar right now, but you’ll be seeing a lot more of it in the near future (ie: Comic-Con). Case in point: A plot synopsis has finally been revealed for the film. Tell me this doesn’t sound right up your geek alley.
“Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart-ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town—a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Collings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.”
Seth Rogen as a little green man? Count me in!
