Fanboy Fix: Superman in Handcuffs and Wolverine Back in 'X-Men' Claws

Simple handcuffs shouldn’t be able to contain the Man of Steel. Which is why the latest teaser poster for Zack Snyder’s Superman adventure, Man of Steel, is so very intriguing.

A viral campaign on the film’s Facebook page finally unlocked the one-sheet, which shows Superman (Henry Cavill) surrounded by guards as he’s marched, somewhere, in chains. This harkens back to footage that Warner Bros. decided to show at San Diego Comic-Con, with Superman fighting off armed officers in what looked to be a bank vault.
But Superman’s powers should prevent just such a capture, right? Now, more than anything, I want to know why Superman’s allowing himself to be captured by mortals. There has to be a reason.
Here’s the poster. Man of Steel comes out on June 14, 2013.
Days of Wolverine Past: There was a rumor floated around a few days ago that Hugh Jackman was negotiating to play Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s Days of Future Past. Which makes sense on so many levels. Wolverine was an important component of the two-issue storyline from the X-Men comics. Attempting the Future Past plotline without him would be silly. Plus, Jackman’s just coming off playing Wolvie in a standalone film (which we’ll see next summer), and the actor has a working relationship with Singer. Win-win.
Yet while the Wolvie casting was a rumor, Jackman hinted toward a confirmation while plugging Les Miserables in New York City. Speaking with Access Hollywood, Jackman admitted:

“There is an X-Men: First Class sequel, which Bryan Singer is directing, as you know. Which I think is awesome. It started with Bryan. I know the fans are super excited. I did a three-hour, three word cameo in the last one. It literally took me three hours. As long as it took me to audition for Les Miserables. I have been talking to Bryan about doing something in this.”
That last line is crucial. The rest is just playful reporter banter. But the fact that he’s still having conversation with Singer means it’s possible. Let’s hope probable.
In the meantime, Jackman reprises the role of Logan in The Wolverine, due in theaters on July 26, 2013.
