'Star Trek 2' Lands a Release Date
Fanboy Fix: 'Star Trek 2' Release Date and No 'Metal Gear Solid' Movie
Well, we knew the film was coming eventually -- we just didn't know when Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his Trek crew were going to entertain us with a sequel to the mega-successful Star Trek reboot. For now, Paramount has announced that they've RSVP'd for June 29, 2012, and if everyone stays on schedule, that's when the next installment will arrive in theaters. Will it be in 3D? Will it be in IMAX? Those questions haven't been answered yet, but chances are we'll see a "yes" on both.
Producer Says No 'Metal Gear Solid' Movie
Those gamers and Metal Gear Solid fans out there may be a little disgruntled to hear that, from the looks of things, that big-screen adaptation ain't happening anytime soon. Collider spoke with producer Mike De Luca, who said they just can't seem to get all the pieces to fit properly. He notes, "I don't think it's going to move forward because I got the sense that there may not be enough of a coordinated will at this point on the side of certain parties to see a movie get made." Sounds like the studio doesn't want to take a chance on the video game adaptation, and I don't blame them. Historically, video game adaptations have not only done bad business at the box office, but have also been bashed by critics and fans alike. Might be smart to step away for now…unless you think there's enough content here to make something really special. Sound off below…
