Fanboy Fix: Spider-Man 4, Thor, New Freddy Krueger

Spider-Man 4

Tobey Maguire has been doing some press for his film Brothers (I’m hearing great buzz on that, by the way), and, as such, folks are asking him about Spider-Man 4. According to Maguire, the fourth installment is set to begin filming in February or March of next year. As far as villains go, he wouldn’t reveal which baddies will be involved in the sequel, though he did say who he’d like to see: The Lizard and Mysterio.

Says Maguire to MTV: “I'm more familiar with Lizard and Mysterio, and I don't know -- I like them as villains. I think they're great, and Lizard obviously has a very personal relationship with Peter Parker, so we often will go towards that kind of stuff." Still no word on which villains will actually make an appearance, though the latest rumor is that Anne Hathaway was approached to play Black Cat. Look for casting announcements to hit in December.
And speaking of casting announcements, Natalie Portman recently let it slip to MTV that she’s excited to be working with Kat Dennings in Thor. Thing is, that’s all news to us because Dennings was never officially announced as joining the cast of Thor. With no real announcement, folks immediately began combing through Thor characters and old casting call sheets only to discover that Dennings will most likely be playing a character named Marcy Lewis, who, according to a casting call sheet, comes with this description (that fits Dennings perfectly):
“[MARCY LEWIS] (20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she’s been stuck for months in this small New Mexico town and relegated to a wide range of unglamorous activities. Kate has been particularly hard on Marcy, making it her personal project to see that Marcy lives up to her potential. Marcy deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass.”
The New Freddy Krueger
Ever since Jackie Earle Haley was announced as the new Freddy Krueger in the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street remake, folks have been itching to see what he’ll look like – especially since Robert Englund’s version is so iconic and memorable. The first teaser poster and trailer revealed nothing more than a shadowy glance, though with the announcement of new Freddy Krueger toys (not sure what parents would want their kids to play with an ugly serial killer toy, but I guess there’s a demand out there) comes a better look at what Haley’s Krueger will look like up on the big screen.
Check out the image in this post and let us know which version of Freddy you think is scarier: the old one or the new one. A Nightmare on Elm Street hits theaters on April 30th.
