R2D2 Gets an Iron Man Makeover
Fanboy Fix: R2D2 as Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man
For no other reason than it looks pretty darn cool, digital artist Mike Verta took an image of R2D2 from Star Wars and crossed it with the Iron Man colors, making the iconic robot look like he belongs as a hero in the next Iron Man film. And not for nothing, but the colors really do suit him well. Next, I want to see Tony Stark crossed with C-3PO. [via GeekTyrant]
Stanley Tucci Joins ‘Captain America’
With filming beginning this summer, Captain America: The First Avenger is right smack in the middle of assembling its cast, with news coming that Stanley Tucci has joined the film, due in theaters next summer. He’ll be playing Dr. Abraham Erskine, the scientist who invents the super-soldier serum that turns Steve Rogers into Captain America. Tucci joins a cast that already includes Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, and Hayley Atwell. [via Heat Vision]
Michael Fassbender Up for Villain Role in ‘Spider-Man’ or ‘X-Men: First Class’?
Also in the superhero movie world, Roger Friedman over at Showbiz 411 reports that Michael Fassbender (who impressed many with his turn in Inglourious Basterds) is being courted for two pretty big roles: first, as an unknown villain in the new Spider-Man film, and also as a young Eric Lehnsherr (aka Magneto) in X-Men: First Class. Supposedly, because these two conflict with one another scheduling-wise, Fassbender would have to choose only one … since, unfortunately, he won’t be playing a character that crosses over between the two films (though that would’ve been fun). Remember, Marvel doesn’t own the film rights for X-Men or Spider-Man (and each is owned by another studio; Fox and Sony, respectively), so don’t expect Spidey to dabble with his Marvel friends anytime soon.
