Star Trek Sequel Filming This January?
The biggest surprise of the day (for me) came when I spotted a story about how the sequel to the recent Star Trek reboot would be going into production in January. Seemed a little too soon, especially since all we've been hearing about that film is they're working on a script; throwing around ideas. Had they really come this far without anyone knowing?
The news came from Bruce Greenwood himself (via Hollywood.com). Greenwood played Captain Pike in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, and while he didn't know if he'd be returning, he did note that production was supposed to begin in January. Not long after that rumor began circulating, TrekMovie piped up and said that they had talked to producer Bryan Burk, who said production wouldn't be starting until late spring or early summer. Still no word on whether Abrams will direct.
Is Russell Brand Our New Batman?
Oh god, please no. Lots of folks were confused recently when an old Batmobile (used during Batman Forever) was being used for some movie shoot in New York City. It was later revealed that the movie was the Arthur remake starring Russell Brand. What wasn't revealed, however, until yesterday, was that Brand was actually playing Batman (or at least he was dressed up as Batman for some odd reason). And the kicker? Check out Luiz Guzman as Robin … but, um, not while you're eating.
