It’s not much, but it’s a tease worth writing about. With production officially getting underway on the first-ever, big-budgeted live-action superhero team-up movie, The Avengers, Disney has released the first image from the set of the 2012 movie with a press release announcing the start of production. And yes, we say Disney because this will the first Marvel movie produced under the Disney banner. Remember the Mouse House acquired Marvel last year, and while Paramount is still teaming with Marvel on the release of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, it’ll be Disney from there on out.
Here’s a bit from the press release that may be of interest to you: “Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as SHIELD, finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest Super Hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of Super Heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders ("How I Met Your Mother") as Agent Maria Hill of SHIELD, as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”
‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ Pics and New Trailer
As we inch closer to the release of Michael Bay’s third and final Transformers movie this July 1st, a couple of new images have arrived online ahead of the brand spanking new trailer, which is set to debut on Apple later today at 4:30PM PST (7:30PM EST).
The images, which are shots from the upcoming trailer, show us our two leads – played by Shia LaBeouf and the Megan Fox replacement, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley – as well as a nasty-looking robot that looks to be causing mass destruction as it hovers over city buildings. Both LaBeouf and Whiteley look pretty freaked out, too, so perhaps they’re watching that thing torch the city too. Looking forward to the trailer – definitely check back later on and we’ll post it for you.
