Fanboy Fix: Captain America, The Avengers and Freddy Krueger's New Face

Joss Whedon Re-Writing 'The Avengers' and 'Captain America'?

Marvel's slate

Obviously it hasn't taken long for Joss Whedon to assimilate himself into the Marvel movie universe, as it looks like he'll have a lot more to do than just directing The Avengers. Not only will he be doing some script work on the group superhero film due out in 2012 (re-writing and polishing up Zak Penn's original script), but according to Pajiba he'll also be doing scriptwork on Captain America: The First Avenger, even though that film is scheduled to go before cameras in just a couple months from now.
There's no word on what Whedon will be adding to each film, though we imagine he'll be playing around with the continuity some to make sure Captain America bleeds into The Avengers in just the right way. After all, it's called The First Avenger, and so this will be the film that sets up the big granddaddy of them all: The Avengers.
Are you comfortable with Joss Whedon having this much control over these franchises? Are you happy they've brought him in to play around, or do you think the decision will come back to bite Marvel in the back of its skin-tight superhero costume?
Freddy Kruger's New Face – What Do You Think?
The new Freddy Kruger
After months of darkened, blurry images, shadowy movie stills and pictures of movie tie-in dolls, a new clip from the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street remake has finally revealed the new face of Freddy Krueger, played by Jackie Earle Haley and not (for the first time in franchise history) by Robert Englund.
The remake – due in theaters on April 30th -- is looking to get back in touch with the original Nightmare on Elm Street, back when Freddy was less of a jokester and more of a menacing, freak-ish burn victim who thrives on killing innocent teenagers in their dreams. Check out this newly released clip, and let us know what you think of the new Freddy Krueger. Is he just as freaky as before? Freakier? Or not as scary as Englund was?
