Eye on Anime: Evangelion Sparkling Wine, Full Metal Alchemist Dishes and Gene Simmons Meets Hello Kitty

Evangelion Sparkling Wine

An online shop for anime production company ANIMATE is currently taking orders for limited-edition sparkling wines inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion. The wines come in three flavors and will be sold in mid-June and are limited to 333 bottles of each wine type. Each bottle costs 50,000 yen (about $624) and will be numbered.
A breakdown of the three wines was provided. Evangelion Sparkling Eva 01 BRUT Karakuchi is a dry, unsweetened wine. Evangelion Sparkling Eva 00 SEC Nakaguchi features the character Rei Ayanami and is a semi-sweet wine while the third wine, Evangelion Sparkling Eva 02 DEMI SEC Amakuchi is a sweet wine that features Asuka Langley. All three bottles feature the characters drawn in gold print on a black bottle. Check out the designs below.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a sci-fi TV anime series that originally aired in 1995-96 and continues to produce new memorabilia. The series is currently being adapted into a four-part theatrical remake by the production company Khara. Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone hit theaters in 2007 and Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance hit theaters in 2009 in Japan and 2010 in the U.S.
New Full Metal Alchemist Film Celebrated with 23 Dishes
To mark the July 2nd Japanese release of the latest Full Metal Alchemist film, Full Metal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, Tokyo’s Namco Namja Town has been hosting a promotion featuring 23 desserts and entrees with Alchemist themes. Namja Town is an indoor theme park in Ikebukuro, an entertainment and commercial district within Tokyo. Check out some of the dishes being offered below. They include, from left to right, Fluffy Fluffy Xiao Mei, Flame Alchemist Crepe, Al and Cats Chocolate Gelatin Cheesecake and the comically named, “That’s No Panda! It’s A Beast” dumpling. Gene Simmons Meets Hello Kitty
Gene Simmons, the bassist/vocalist for rock band Kiss has met with Sanrio executives to discuss creating a, “KISS-Hello Kitty worldwide deal.” What exactly this means is anyone’s guess but as Sanrio’s most recognizable character, Hello Kitty has already joined forces with rock band X Japan to create “Visual-Kei Kitty.” Earlier this year, the artist duo known as Mad Barbarians created Hello Kitty Zombie Friends which will be available for sale in September.
