End of Week Recap: 'The Blues Brothers' TV Series, Another 'Breaking Dawn' Pic, Superman's New Costume and Steven Seagal Accused of Killing a Puppy

While studios make the transition between summer blockbusters to fall/winter awards bait, you'd think things would be quieting down. But in an industry that never sleeps, things are always happening whether it's Die Hard 5 naming its director or Olivia Munn, Zoe Saldana and Josh Brolin getting hitched to new projects, Steven Seagal being accused of killing a puppy or The Situation head-butting a wall, er, um, scratch that last one. As we cruise into this long holiday weekend, let's take a look at the news, rumors, pics, trailers and videos that made waves this week...

News

Josh Brolin has signed up to star in Spike Lee’s remake of the 2003 Korean dramatic thriller Oldboy.
 
Bad news gets worse. The writer of that Selena Gomez rom-com Monte Carlo, has been brought on to write the re-make of Dirty Dancing.
 
Matthew Fox was released by police following a skirmish with a female driver of a party bus in Cleveland. Fox was later charged with punching the woman repeatedly when she refused to let him on board. The actor is currently in Cleveland working on the film, I, Alex Cross.
 
Zoe Saldana is set to produce and star as a half-human, half-angel in the Paramount thriller Dominion.
 
Speaking of Saldana, director Olivier Megaton (yes, that’s his real name) admitted that Colombiana was inspired by an unmade sequel to the 1994 classic Leon: The Professional which starred Jean Reno and Natalie Portman.
 
The Situation of Jersey Shore fame was hospitalized for head-butting a wall.
 
The Steven Soderbergh retirement campaign is back in full swing. Once he's done with his current slate of projects, the director announced this week that he would turn his attention to painting.
 
Dwayne Johnson added, er, tweeted his name to the list of actors interested in playing Luke Cage.
 
 
 
The Blues Brothers is being adapted into a TV series. The plot will find Jake and Elwood traveling across the country trying to find Elwood Sr. Each episode will include one main musical number with different musicians taking on the role of The Blues Brothers band. “It’s Route 66 meets Glee and it all goes to hell in a hand basket,” said Anne Beatts, writer of the TV series.
 
Olivia Munn joined the cast of Soderbergh’s male stripper movie, Magic Mike.
 
Gemma Ward joined the cast of Baz Luhrman’s Great Gatsby movie which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.
 
Steven Seagal is being accused of killing a puppy and 100 roosters.
 
The Help continues to be the little movie that could, crossing the $100 million mark on Tuesday night.
 
John Moore was chosen to direct Die Hard 5. For those wondering who John Moore is, he directed Max Payne and The Omen remake. Yippie-kai-yay?

The actor has since accepted and now the attention has turned to who will play his shag-tastic female counterpart. Fingers are currently pointing at models Lara Stone and Gisele Bundchen, which Bundchen as the front runner.
