End of Week Recap: Peter Jackson Teases Another 'Hobbit' Surprise, Bill Murray Shreds 'Ghostbusters 3' Script?

Having released a teaser trailer for The Hobbit earlier this week, Peter Jackson posted another tease on his Facebook page promising, "a Christmas treat," in conjunction with the tenth anniversary of the release of The Fellowship of the Ring. Like his page and stay tuned to find out what he has planned.
We all know that around this time of the year, studios go into award campaigning mode. Some might see it as the studios buying Oscars. Well, David Copperfield literally tried to. The magician attempted to fork over $861,542 for Orson Welles' Citizen Kane Oscar trophy but was outbid.
The Atlanta Braves baseball franchise is opposing Disney's attempt to trademark the word "Brave." Disney has been registering various iterations and uses of the word during the past year in anticipation for their upcoming Pixar film Brave, out June 20. The Atlanta Braves do not possess any trademarks on the use of the word and have until January 18 to file their opposition papers.
Harrison Ford will join the cast of the upcoming big screen adaptation of Orson Scott Card's sci-fi novel Ender's Game. Ford will join Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Sir Ben Kingsley.
Speaking of movies that were busy filling out their cast lists, the Linda Lovelace biopic cleverly titled Lovelace added a bunch of actors this week. Hank Azaria, Chris Noth, Robert Patrick and Bobby Cannavale were all added in supporting roles while James Franco is currently in talks to play Hugh Hefner. Amanda Seyfried is set to play Lovelace, the ‘70s porn icon who shot to fame in the infamous Deep Throat.
Speaking of Franco, an NYU professor has filed suit against the university alleging that he lost his job because he gave the actor a grade of "D" for a directing class. The professor says the actor missed most of his classes but got preferential treatment at the school for generating publicity for it.
Jay Mohr has joined the cast of magician comedy Burt Wonderstone. Mohr joins Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, Olivia Wilde and James Gandolfini .
Gilberto Sanchez, otherwise known as the guy who illegally uploaded and distributed a copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was sentenced to one year in federal prison.
Casino Royale Bond Girl Eva Green is in talks to star in the prequel to 300, titled 300: Battle of Artemisia.
For anyone who was holding out the slightest bit of hope that maybe, perhaps, possibly Bill Murray would read the Ghostbusters 3 script and say, "Let's shoot this," welllll, rumor has it that Murray threw the pages into a shredder and sent the remnants back to Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis saying, "No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!"
Vin Diesel confirmed during a magazine photo shoot that next Fast and Furious movie will be split into two parts, guaranteeing us a Fast and Furious 7, or is it Fast and Furious 6 – Part 2? Regardless, there will be two more Fast movies coming at us beginning in May 2013 with Fast 6.
Pics and Posters
New posters for The Woman in Black, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, Wanderlust, Mirror Mirror, The Baytown Disco, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Haywire, 21 Jump Street, Beneath the Darkness, The Devil Inside, plus the Wrath of the Titans banners and poster. Though The Avengers released some posters, we're not including them since they're technically just cropped versions of the banners from a couple weeks ago.
Of course, with the release of The Dark Knight Rises trailer comes a flood of new fan-made posters. Here are two of them below.
