Dwayne Johnson May Be Hinting at Green Lantern Role in 'Batman/Superman'

While you may still be reeling from the announcement that Jesse Eisenberg is playing Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, the next announcement may not be as big of a surprise.

Dwayne Johnson, some of you know him as the Rock, has been at the center of DC Comics/Warner Bros. rumors for a few months now. Last November, he tweeted a picture of himself with Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara promising to "do some big cool things!" He followed that post with an Instagram pic taken with his trainer that ended with the hashtag "#JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss." For those in need of some hashtag decoding, that translates to "John Stewart Can Still Whup Superman's Ass." Stewart is one of the alter egos of the Green Lantern, a DC Comics superhero who was last seen in 2011 with Ryan Reynolds playing Hal Jordan.

Rumors continue to suggest that every major Justice League member will be getting a small cameo in Batman/Superman, which will then lead to a Justice League movie in 2017. That date has not been set in stone though and could in fact be delayed slightly after Batman/Superman was bumped back a year from its original 2015 release date.

Batman-News did the digging into the Rock's social accounts and thinks he's in line to play Green Lantern. What do you think? Will Dwayne Johnson be the next addition to Snyder's sequel and if so, how do you feel about his addition to a cast that includes Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons and Amy Adams?

Batman/Superman is due in theaters May 6, 2016.
