'Dredd' Drops a 10-Second Preview: Full Clip Coming on Thursday
Here we go again. After the fifth and final Twilight movie teased its fan base with a 10-second clip ahead of a full trailer, another film has decided to pre-empt its official tease with a bite-sized clip.
Making the rounds today is a snapshot look at Dredd, the latest attempt at translating John Wagner’s futuristic graphic novel to the big screen. Instead of Sylvester Stallone (who played the law-enforcement agent in 1995), Star Trek co-star Karl Urban dons the familiar mask and monotone growl for a sci-fi thriller that’s sure to jolt the autumn movie season.
A full Dredd trailer is set to hit the Internet on Thursday. In the meantime, Lionsgate has released a poster (which you can see above), a plot synopsis and a 10-second preview. We have the rest below.
Pete Travis directs the new Dredd, which co-stars Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey. Here’s the plot synopsis:
Dredd takes place on a fictional Earth created as a result of the Atomic Wars. Survivors of this period are living in Mega-Cities, which protects its citizens from the Cursed Earth, a radioactive desert environment populated by mutants. The main story takes place in Mega-City One, where the police who are now called judges have the power to use police brutality to some extent to fight extreme murders. One man, Judge Dredd (Karl Urban), a senior law enforcement officer, teams up with a cadet called Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) to track down a terrorist organization lead by Ma-Ma (Lena Headey), who is responsible for selling a reality-altering drug called Slo-Mo.
And here’s the 10-second tease. We’ll bring you the full trailer once it is released:
