Dr. Who fans, get psyched. Skydance Films announced this morning that Matt Smith, the recently departed 11th doctor in the long-running British sci-fi TV series, has been cast in Terminator: Genesis. According to the press release, he'll play "a new character with a strong connection to John Connor" that Deadline reports is a major role that will grow into the second and third films. The movie stars Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke (Sara Connor), Zero Dark Thirty’s Jason Clarke (John Connor), Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese), Dayo Okeniyi and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Smith played the time-traveling doctor on the show from 2011-2013. Terminator: Genesis opens July 1, 2015.
