'Diana' Double Take: Naomi Watts Stars As Iconic Princess in Teaser Trailer

The last few months of 2013 are shaping up for a royal showdown. In one corner, there's Nicole Kidman portraying the late actress-turned-princess of Monaco Grace Kelly in the Weinstein Company's Grace of Monaco. In the other, there's Naomi Watts as a stunning doppelganger of the late Princess Diana in the aptly titled Diana.

There's been buzz about this film for quite some time and now we finally get our first look at Watts in a role that could earn her another trip through the awards circuit. Take a look:

There's no U.S. release date for the film yet, though several European and South American countries have secured fall screening dates. The film will bow in the U.K. on September 20. By then domestic distributor Entertainment One should have a date nailed down.

The film chronicles the last two years of Diana's life, centering on her campaign against land mines and her relationship with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan (biting my tongue on the infamous Star Trek quote) played by LOST's Naveen Andrews.

Do you think Watts has a shot at her third Oscar nomination?
