Daily Recap: New Int'l 'Breaking Dawn' Trailer Shows New Footage, David Duchovny Wants Third 'X-Files' Movie

News and Notes

David Duchovny has thrown his support behind getting a third X-Files movie made. Earlier this week, show writer Frank Spotnitz mentioned that he was interested in doing a third movie and Duchovny's co-star Gillian Anderson, who played FBI agent Dana Scully on the FOX television show has said all along that she would be game to do another movie. Duchovny added, "I would love to do another film, or more. I think we’re all game for it. I know I'm kind of perplexed that Fox isn't more enthusiastic. Here's a homegrown property that you don't have to go buy, like f**king Green Lantern or something, to make it. You've got an actual action franchise that's your own. It's weird to me." The last X-Files movie, The X-Files: I Want to Believe hit theaters in 2008 and grossed $68 million on a $30 million budget. [Collider]

We haven't heard much about Hailee Steinfeld since her breakout performance in the Coen Bros. remake of True Grit from 2010. While she stars as Juliet in an upcoming adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, Steinfeld also has the action adventure sci-fi flick Ender's Game co-starring Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley and Abigail Breslin. Both films are due out in 2013. Now she's added the Black Listed thriller Dead of Winter which is being helmed by music video director Anthony Mandler. The film tells a story about a father who takes his begrudging teenage daughter and her stepmother out to a cabin in the woods for some family bonding, when a dangerous fugitive posing as a park ranger drops by unannounced. Speaking of Ender's Game, it was announced today that the film will be released in IMAX when the film arrives in theaters on November 1, 2013. The sci-fi film from director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) follows Andrew "Ender" Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a boy trained at a military battle school in hopes that he'll develop a plan to defeat a menacing alien race known as the Formics. The film is an adaptation of the Orson Scott Card novel of the same title.

Julie Delpy says that recent reports that a sequel to Before Sunset would be shooting this summer are false. The last we had heard about the project had Delpy, co-star Ethan Hawke and director Richard Linklater still in the conceptualizing/writing stage, which is better than Delpy saying the project is dead. Another day, another Catching Fire casting announcement. Today, E. Roger Mitchell has been cast as Chaff, a tribute from District 11 and winner of the 45th Hunger Games.

Like it or not, a sequel to the classic 1983 holiday classic, A Christmas Story 2 will arrive on Blu-Ray. The sequel will follow Ralphie years after he decides on a big ticket item for his Christmas list: a 1938 Hupmobile Skyline Convertible. The direct-to-video production will arrive October 30.
