Daily Recap: Jeremy Renner Says Hawkeye 'Was Not the Character I Signed On to Play' in 'Avengers,' Johnny Depp Jams with Aerosmith

News and Notes

Jeremy Renner talks about how the version of Hawkeye that ended up in The Avengers was not the version he signed on to play. "At the end of the day, 90% of the movie, I'm not the character I signed on to play. I'm literally in there for two minutes, and then all of a sudden… There's a lot of unanswered questions, even for me." Wait 'til The Avengers 2 script arrives. [Hero Complex]

Speaking of Renner, Paramount is trying decided whether to release their long-delayed Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters as either R-rated or PG-13. The film has shuffled around the calendar for a couple years now and is currently nestled in the cinematic wasteland that is January. The film co-stars Renner and Gemma Arterton and is poised (for now) to finally hit screens on January 11. [The Playlist]

When production first kicked off for A Good Day to Die Hard, the fifth film in the John McClane action series, there was a rumor that there would be a special cameo in the film. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who portrayed McClane's teenage daughter Lucy was said to be excluded from the movie. However today, we've learned that Winstead will indeed make a cameo appearance in the film, thanks to a blog post by an extra on the film. "I got to work with Bruce Willis again, which is always nice. The best, though, was that I got to work with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Willis' daughter." The blog post has since been removed [Bleeding Cool]
