Daily Recap: 'Apes' Writers To Craft 'Jurassic Park 4' Script, New 'Hotel Transylvania' Trailer

Jurassic Park IV took a step toward becoming a reality. Universal has given the go-ahead to Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to write a script for Jurassic Park IV. Several scripts have been written over the past decade, but none have gotten approval from Steven Spielberg, who will produce the next film. Meanwhile, the editors of Movies.com held a discussion about how the franchise should continue.

A new trailer for Hotel Transylvania, starring the voices of Adam Sandler, Kevin James and a bunch of other folks who regularly star in Sandler movies has arrived. The film opens September 28.

The Bandito Brothers (aka the guys who made Act of Valor) have released a teaser trailer for the sci-fi action thriller The Prototype.

Celeste and Jesse Forever was one of the runaway hits from Sundance earlier this year. The film was picked up by Sony Classics Pictures and assigned an August 3 release date.

Ashton Kutcher is suing the Department of Motor Vehicles and the State of California for $1.4 million claiming the DMV backed out of a deal for a proposed reality TV show that would "capture the variously humorous, emotional, dramatic, moving, humanizing and entertaining situations that arise on a daily basis." Dead Man Down, an action thriller starring Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace has received its release date: April 5, 2013. The story follows a man who sabotages the business and picks off the men belonging to an underground crime lord (played by Terrance Howard). The cast also includes Dominic Cooper.

Reese Witherspoon has signed on to star in a film adaptation of the John Gray book Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus. Bryan Buckley will make his feature film debut following a career of directing commercials. [Deadline]
